Hello! My name is Tathiana and I am the writer of Kinked and Curled Blog. I am so happy to finally launch this blog and provide content beyond the styling chair! Before becoming the writer of this blog I was (and still am) braiding the kinks and curls of Charlotte, NC. I specialize in crochet braids, knotless braids, faux locs, and passion twists. My hands are always moving but so is my mind! There is so much information to share about natural hair care, products, and techniques, so let’s get right into it.
So what is Kinked and Curled? Kinked and Curled started as a crochet braiding business back in 2015. I remember like it was yesterday. It was the end of my ‘transition-to-natural’ journey and I was through with the two textures in my head! so I installed some crochet braids on myself so that I didn’t have to deal with my hair for a few weeks. The install was with Cuban Twist Marley hair that I straightened out with a blow drier and curled with an iron. The color was a dark purple black mix and it was installed so naturally if I do say so myself. I was getting compliments left and right and everyone I passed wanted to know who did my hair. Im a hustler at heart so I thought ‘I should turn this into a business.’ I did. Before this idea I had spent years learning braiding techniques off of Youtube so I figured I would apply this to my business. I learned the most popular styles on Youtube at the time, practiced as I went, and built Kinked and Curled.
Kinked and Curled is a protective styling service located in Charlotte, NC. While the brand was started on the foundation of crochet braids, Kinked and Curled styling services have been expanded to include knotless, braids, locs, and passion twists. All styles are installed carefully with low tension and healthy techniques to preserve you scalp and edges. At Kinked and Curled healthy hair is the goal. Protective styling is the method we use to get you there.
Up to this point Kinked and Curled has offered hair services only. Now it is time to share more about natural hair, hair history, how to care for and grow our hair, which products work best for us , and so much more.
